Champions League: Betting Update

Champions League Betting

We're into the Champion’s League semis now with the last four of the original 76 all set to battle it out for a place in the Champions League final.

There’s some top European football coming up and plenty of opportunities to make use of all of the free bets that bookies have for betting on Champions League football.

Teams from only two countries remain standing – Germany and Spain. The way the draw has come out means we could see Germany v Spain or look forward to an all-Spanish or an all-German Champions League final in May.

So how should you use all of the betting offers available at online bookies and and who are the favourites for both of the Champions League semi-finals?

Champions League Semi-Final 1

The Champions League semi-finals will be played over two legs, at home and away; offering punters plenty of opportunity to have some fun with betting offers. The first match kicks off on 23rd April between Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

The Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid game follows the day after on the 24th. Four great teams and two great matches, what a fantastic way to use some of the free bets that bookies offer.

Germany’s Bayern Munich saw off Juventus 4-0 on aggregate in the quarter finals. If you're thinking about using an online bookies free bet to back Bayern, they have already sewn up the Bundesliga title and are arguably the on-form team in Europe this season.

A lot of bookies have them down as favourites to win the Champions League, expecting them to go one better than their runners-up finish last year. So how about placing a free bet or two with them? Bet365 offers odds of 6-4 on Bayern winning the match and 3-1 the tournament.

Their opponents, Barcelona, are through on away goals after drawing with PSV Eindhoven 3-3. Barcelona hasn’t managed to hit the highs that we know they are capable of in the tournament, but they do come armed with Messi, arguably the best football player in the world.

This is probably the team you should be placing those betting offers on even though William Hill offers odds of just 21-10 for the match and 28-13 on the Outright market.

Champions League Semi-Final 2

The other Champions League semi-final will see Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid face each other again after playing twice in the group stages.

Last season Madrid and Dortmund won the Spanish and German league titles, so either could be strong contenders for a free bet! Dortmund went through after beating Malaga 3-2.

To date, luck has played a big part in their performance and they’ll be hoping to find the form that they've lacked in the Champions League so far. Betting at Ladbrokes offers the best odds at 15-8 on Dortmund winning the match with Betfred offering 5-2 for the draw.

Nine-time winner Real Madrid ensured their place in the final by giving a strong second game performance and beating Galatasaray 5-3 overall. Whilst Madrid have not performed as well as they might in the Spanish league this season (12 points behind Barca) the club is still a great betting offers opportunity.

Most online bookies offering 8-5 on them winning the match and let’s not forget that they have Ronaldo who Ladbrokes offer odds of 2-9 on to become Champions League top scorer.

The second round of the semi-finals takes place on the 30th of April and the 1st of May.

With all types of free bet offers available and so many ways of using them you’d be crazy not to have a flutter on the Champion’s League before the final at Wembley on the 25th of May.
